The Kool Kolored Kid Generation's "100 Pairs to Give 2.0 Empowerment Giveaway" at William Penn High School on August 19, 2023, was a monumental success. The event kicked off with an exciting pre-event featuring DJ Corey Da1, Rocky mascot from the Wilmington Blue Rocks, and the William Penn cheerleaders, setting a lively tone. The kick off showcased over 40 free community resources and local vendors who generously distributed free products to attendees.  Guests of honor included County Executive Matt Meyer, who delivered inspiring words to uplift the students. The main event, hosted by the G league Wilmington Blue Coats & 76ers Floor host Ray Hancock in the auditorium featured dynamic speakers, including Delaware Basketball Hall of Fame player William Sheridan, Ashlee Cooper, CEO of Droneversity, and "Grouchy" Greg Watkins, CEO of Allhiphop.com, deeply resonated with the students and their families. Their life stories, filled with both triumphs and setbacks, offered invaluable inspiration and insight. The audience comprised students from 7th to 12th grade, as well as their families, making the impact of these speakers all the more profound. Between speeches, students engaged in games, vying for door prizes, fostering camaraderie and fun. Even parents left with prizes, making it an inclusive experience for all. Notably 100 families and students received the unexpected gift of desktop computers and laptops, courtesy of Stepping Stones Federal Credit Union & Nerdit Now . With the support of over 30 sponsors, attendees enjoyed a satisfying meal with contributions from sponsors like BJ's, Wawa, Crispy Kreme, Capriotti's, Columbus Inn restaurant and Seasons Pizza. With over 250 attendees, the event left an indelible mark, promising an even more remarkable gathering next year.
