100 Pairs 2.0 Back to School Empowerment Experience
On August 19, 2023, Kool Kolored Kid Generation at William Penn High School for the second annual 100 Pairs to Give 2.0 & Empowerment Giveaway.
What started as a sneaker giveaway grew into a full community experience bringing together over 250 students, families, vendors, community resources, speakers, performers, and supporters for a day rooted in confidence, creativity, and empowerment.
The event featured 100 pairs of sneakers for pre registered youth preparing to return to school, along with 100 laptops from Nerdit Cares, community vendors, door prizes, live entertainment, games, and an empowerment session from invited speakers designed to remind students that they are seen, valued, and capable of creating change.
Hosted by Ray “Phame” Hancock, the day included powerful voices such as Delaware Basketball Hall of Fame player “Big” Will Sheridan, AllHipHop.com CEO and Delaware native “Grouchy” Greg Watkins, and speaker Ashlee Cooper of Droneversity. The stage also came alive with performances and youth-centered energy from Young SEDA and the William Penn High School cheerleading team, helping turn the event into more than a giveaway it became a celebration of purpose, pride, and possibility.
Community partners and supporters included William Penn High School, vendors, volunteers, local businesses, families, and community organizations who helped bring the vision to life. 100 Pairs to Give 2.0 proved that when creativity meets community, a pair of sneakers can represent much more than style. They can become a symbol of confidence, momentum, and the belief that every young person deserves to walk into the school year feeling empowered. This event helped lay the foundation for the continued growth of 100 Pairs to Give and the larger Kool Kolored Kid Generation mission: to create change, inspire youth, and build unforgettable experiences that remind the next generation that their future is worth investing in.
