On August 10,2024âKool Kolored Kid Generation (KKKG) kicked off their 3rd Annual "100 Pairs to Give x3 Back to School & Empowerment Giveaway," an event dedicated to empowering and inspiring students from the Christina,Brandywine,Colonial,and Red Clay school districts,as well as the surrounding community.At William Penn High School.Three hundred pre-registered students from grades 6-12 across the four school districts enjoyed a pre-kickoff event featuring live music by DJ Tim Dogg and host G-Dash Jones,along with performances by the William Penn High School cheerleaders. The event included games,door prize giveaways,40 vendors (including 4 student vendors),and interactive activities. KKKG gave away 100 pairs of their brand-new sneakers,Global Kid Generation 2âs. Nemours Childrenâs Health added to the excitement by providing 100 additional duffle bags filled with headphones,goodies,and a water bottle for each student. WSFS Bank joined in by offering 100 savings accounts with $50 each,promoting financial literacy. The first 100 walk-ins,who were not a part of the giveaway or districts,received backpacks courtesy of Community Cares of Delaware. This event aimed to ignite passions,empower minds,and fuel ambitions for students and the entire communityâand it succeeded in doing just that. Mascot Unveiling: The event also featured the introduction of KKKG's newest mascot,Kool World (aka Kooli),in partnership with Nemours Childrenâs Health. Local mascots,including Coaty from the Delaware Blue Coats,Rocky from the Wilmington Blue Rocks,Strike from Goldey-Beacom College,TOO FLY from Delaware State University,and William Penn's mascot,joined in the celebration to introduce Kooli. Special Guests: Christina Culture Art students opened the main event by showcasing their dance moves. Notable guests included celebrity photographer Andre Wright Jr.,Shach Stennett,brand ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware,and Maiss Hussein,the 2024 Delaware State Poetry Out Loud Champion,who delivered an inspiring poetry performance.Event Achievements: The event registered 300 students,with an additional 125 walk-in students. Total attendance exceeded 300 students and families,supported by 33 registered volunteers. Â
